DRIP (Dividend Reinvestment)
A strategy where dividends paid by a stock or fund are automatically used to buy additional shares rather than taken as cash. Over decades, reinvested dividends typically account for half or more of total equity returns — removing them from the calculation significantly understates what a buy-and-hold investor would have earned.
